Bunnies and hats

Hey there!

Long ago, I posted about the bunny I was knitting for a friend . And then I did nothing for a long time.

Well, that's not precisely true. I searched high and low for a wee little Stetson for him. He just looked... naked without it. And two months went by.

But I will not be stopped!

That, my friends, is a tiny little felt Stetson, hand made by me. Yup, I ended up hand making felt in the right color, cutting it out, and sewing a wee little Stetson. Yes, I'm rather insane.

Here he is IN his hat. It's not quite perfect (the proportions aren't exactly right) but it's as close as I can get.

Now I just have to tack down his legs, sew on his tail, and he's ready to ship out. And there's another bunny going with him, same uniform, slightly taller, and rather sweet, in a puppy-dog sorta way... yup, for waiting so long, Lek gets a Turnbull bunny, too.

I had fun with these. If anybody wants any specifics on their creation, let me know.

What else am I doing? Knitting SEVEN Jayne Cobb hats. Seven. I'm going to die. I'm making the hats out of Cascade 220, and they should go pretty fast. I need to get them done by September 30th, when the Firefly movie "Serenity" comes out.

Most of the patterns I've found online have the earflaps red. I've looked at the pictures of the show, and I swear they've got orange earflaps.... so I'm going out on a limb and making mine orange. And, of course, because I'm using 220 and not Lopi, I had to change the pattern... but I think it'll come out alright anyway.

Aw man, too bad you're going to die! I want a hat too! Although what I really want is a brown coat.

And a space ship.

OK, OK, I'll make my own darn hat.
